Blanket chests have been a staple in the American family for hundreds of years, and a most common furniture item to be passed on to younger generations as gifts. This blanket chest is dovetailed throughout for the longest lasting life and features a special 'tree of life' inlay in birdseye maple. The inlay is also meant to carry the initials of the chest's first recipient and the year, and the subsequent recipients or descendants as the chest is passed on. As shown, the bottom of the inlay carries the initials of the grandparents who had the chest made as a gift, marking it as a family 'tree of life' heirloom being passed in the family.
